use your good drill bits in a cordless drill. Learned my lesson.

just file the small burs off and it will work fine----a lot of keyless chucks will not hold bits as well as a keyed chuck---even then they may slip at times--Dave
 
Yes , the chucks on hand tools aren't the best by any means . File or stone the shanks after using .
 
been there many times. My pet HATE is manufacturers who place the size marks exactly where the jaws grip.
They own the company or stock in the companies that sell micrometers to measure those bits with the sizes worn off!
 
This exactly the reason why I have a cheap set of cobalt drills that have 3 flat shanks on them that only get used with my cordless drill.
 
I hate using my good S&D drills in any thing other than a collet even though they have the flats . But sometimes you have to do what you gotta do ! :)
 
I say all drill bits should have the 3 flat shanks on them regardless of what they're made of or made for.
