Tool Holder for straight shank carbide end mills

I'd use the ER collets. We have ER16, ER32 and TG100 collets for the VMC's at work. Everyone uses the ER tool holders. Way more accurate than the TG100's are.

The first day I went to work at this place I put reamer in a TG100 collet. Big mistake, hole went way oversize on an expensive part.

We have ordered some Okuma's to be delivered in August and they are 30HP machines. They ordered TG40 collets and holders for it.

Used properly the ER series can take some really good cuts.

I second the er collets I can push 3/8 endmills in er16 collets pretty hard. I’m assuming you have a manual machine so I don’t see you ever pushing them how they get pushed on a cnc machine. For reference my machine has a 15hp spindle and with good collets properly cleaned and torqued I’ve never had them slip.
