Torture Testing the Unimat SL1000

Haven't the time to watch your videos yet, but I plan on it. What are the tubular ways made of? Cheers, Mike

DB's are earlier models and have a cast iron base, SL's came in heavy and then lighter alloy base versions,, all the parts are interchangeable between models.. the rails are solid steel rods,, a raising block for the head and tool holder were factory items,, aftermarket tailstock blocks exist along with extended rails,, I cut up a second base to use with the long rails and make a base for the drill/mill column..

Hi Mike,
the ways are solid steel rods, about 12mm in diameter.
i don't think they are hardened

What is the difference between an SL1000 and the DB200?
the SL1000 has a 90 watt motor, it is made from ZAMAK. it was intended for the European market
the DB200 has a 85 watt motor. the bed is also is made from ZAMAK it was intended for the USA market
both are very similar
