Traveling head shaper

a VERY RARE BIRD, ACTUALLY CALLED A TRAVERSE SHAPER. Large examples of that type had the advantage of being able to work on large pieces of work that did not have to be moved for feeding; they could be secured to the machine table and supported buy or secured to the shop floor or floor plates. Disatvantage was they did not lend themselves to the use of a quick return motion, hence, thy would have been slower working than a standard type shaper.

Cool old iron. Hope he finds a buyer nearby.

I've been watching this one since it was at 1750. It is a nifty shaper, but I think 1125 is still high on the price. Also, the seller has a pretty bad feedback score. I like to watch these just to see what they go for, I don't need or have room for any more shapers right now.
