Here is what I'm making from cast aluminum. Just a few cast parts to make then all the parts to connect it all together.

Yes I did make the patterns and casting.
First is the stand mold,second photo is the cylinder head and steam chest, third photo is the stand pattern and the cast stand.

nice work i was doing some casting a while back but not as nice as yours came out

That's Incredible, thanks for sharing the pictures. One of these days I'm gonna learn to do that!!!

I used sodium silicate and plain sand for the cores. I also make them hollow, 2" O.D. with a 1" I'D. hole, instead of using Co2 I let them air cure there's enough Co2 in the air it just takes longer for them to set up.
 
I'm too impatient for that, I stick mine in a ziplock bag and fill it with co2 from a bit of baking powder and vinegar.
I had not thought of making them hollow, that would speed up the hardening.
