Vintage Union Cast Iron Hacksaw Frame

I have a vintage cast iron 8" Union hacksaw with a damaged brass ferrule on the wood handle. I want to replace it but I am unsure how the handle was fastened unto the saw frame. Maybe it is screwed on or pressed on like a file handle. Would anyone here have any experience with this?

I was able to twist the wood handle off the saw frame. Now I can make a new brass ferrule, clean the frame up and will have nice vintage tool to use.
