I bought at auction a job lot of indexable drills. They are a dream for roughing holes to get a boring bar in - a massive timesaver.

Anyway, I’ve worn my way through the inserts supplied and I’m needing to get some more. Only problem is I can’t find any! It’s possibly that I’m looking for the wrong thing so I was hoping someone here may be able to offer some advice.

The drills are marked with Walter B2060 and the diameter. The inserts are visually similar to a CCMT insert (although the angle is closer to 85 degrees according to my angle gauges). They measure 7.83 mm across the flats. Does anyone have any idea what the inserts are?

Did you try giving Walter-Valentine a call? I assume that's the maker of that drill.

I haven’t yet. It seems they’re based in Germany and don’t appear to have a U.K. presence. Maybe that should be tomorrow’s task!

Just a quick update, I managed to find a number for an office in the U.K. as it turns out these drills were last sold in 1991 and are now obsolete along with the inserts. Probably why they were going so cheap! The chap had a look through new old stock but nothing. I’m the scrap pile they go!
