This is the time of year when model engineering shows head west.
The next one is the Western Engine and Model Exhibition, to be held next weekend (August 14-26) in Pleasanton, California.
We'll be there and look forward to meeting more SWARF readers. We'll have our HiTorque Mini Lathe on display, along with a complement of tooling for metalworking hobbyists. We hope to see you there too.
Next Weekend: August 24-26 in Pleasanton, CA
This Western Engine and Model Exhibition (WEME) is put on by the Bay Area Engine Modelers club (BAEM), and it's a particularly fun show. That's because it's a show within a show. It's part of the Goodguys 26th West Coast Nationals. Your admission covers entry to both events.

In addition to all the usual attractions, you'll see over 3000 hot rods, custom vehicles, and classic cars. And, of course, you'll see lots of working models on display, including model steam engines, locomotives, internal combustion engines, Stirling engines, tanks, aircraft engines, and more. In addition, you'll see vendors with machines, tooling, material, and books. It's a great place for machinists as well as car enthusiasts to compare notes and pick up some tips.

When: Friday through Sunday, August 24-26. General admission hours are 8-5 on Friday and Saturday, and 8-3 on Sunday.
Where: Alameda County Fairgrounds, Agricultural Building,4501 Pleasanton Ave, Pleasanton, CA

My friend and I will be there three days. It's a great time. Hope it's not as HOT as last year.
