What Did You Buy Today?

I acquired this hammer a while ago. Just wondering if anyone can tell me who makes it? I eventually would like to replace the rawhide faces, and I want to make sure I get the correct ones. Also, what is the best way to trim and clean these faces up? And is there a purpose for the big channel? Thanks

I wanted to clean up the faces. I first use a tin snips to get the majority off, then I happened to think of using my tire buffer. Worked like a charm!
I guess I don't need to replace these yet. Looks like there's a lot of life left.

My first rawhide beater. What do you use your's for?

cool. it could really suck if the work came loose though.
When I was making my aluminum blocks, the 4" face mill, with super sharp inserts, touched one of my lexan shields..........ZING!!!!!! Flew into the other mill, REALLY fast!!! Kinda glad I used lexan.

These are not as nice as the set SC posted. I do not have this set, yet. It is on my want list I will buy them when I need them. I have used the Igaging stuff before, not Starrett or Mitutoyo. But for cheaper import stuff/China not bad. This set goes from 0.7-6" resolution is 0.0005", good enough for my needs.

Hahaha!!! I got that same set on an amazon sale, it was $95. I haven't used it yet. I laugh because today I took a pic of it so I remember to look up a vid on how to use it. I seen Josh Topper using that same one so I figured it had to be at least decent quality. I wish I could give you some input.

@Stick-man, sir you are a bad influence.

Neither epay or FBMP had sets cheaper than this, and none of them were like new. Sooooo...

I try to avoid Chinese goods, these are from India.

Also, from McMaster 1" and 0.75" diameter 1215 stock and some 0.156" dia O1 all 3 feet long and some dowel pins.
WOAH there buddy! My exact set came today! I would have never even looked had you not told me you ordered them. This, my friend, is on you!!! YOU are the bad influence this time!!! Here it comes........

DAMN you @Shade Tree Welder!!!:grin:

I was taking a short break and popped open FBM on a whim, saw this ad posted only 12 minutes prior. Then rocketed up the interstate in my truck.

I ended up with all three items in this photo...

1. 18" x 36" finely scraped cast iron surface plate $200

2. Big 60 degree cast iron straight edge $20

3. See that wood box under the straight edge, it's a 24 Inch Cylinder Square it's HUGE :eek 2: The seller gave it to me for FREE. :eek 2:

From this pallet the seller purchased he kept the big cast iron surface plate, it's a monster 4 x 4 footer. He estimated it weighs 2,000 lbs.
