What Did You Buy Today?

You going to regrind the square? ;)
I could on the B&S cylindrical grinder but for my use I doubt I'll need to touch it. The factory specified squareness is .0002" which for 24 inches is hella square. It looks like someone at Boeing wrote .0005 on it with a sharpie. But if I'm only ever going to use 12" of it and that's within .0001 or .0002 there's no need for me to mess with it.

went to a flea mkt yesterday. negotiated a more reasonable price.. some people think everything is an antique worthy of big dollars, even bent up and damaged.
I was able to straighten the drum at home. I need this for my woodworking and modelling. Sometimes you don't have enough hands.

My family business had a bunch that looked just like the gold one. Going back to the '70's

If the cylinder is round they're NOT hard to tune up with a lapping plate. Made a small shop made one a while back. Started with a large piston pin, it's square to under a needle width on the tenths indicator at 5" height. Took about an hour of lapping to make it darned near perfect.

I have an ever larger one planned, 4" by 10" piston pin, to be trued up into a cylinder square.

I watched a Suburban Tool video last night of them doing exactly that. :encourage:

Weird...a forum member looked up a ROHM chuck on MSC today for a lathe he's considering and took a screen shot to share. I looked up the same chuck on MSC, took the same screen shot...my price was $347 less than he was seeing or 6.89% less. :confused 3: I mean that's good for me but the other member felt like he was getting squeezed.
