I had gotten this block acouple weeks ago at the local flea market. Guy didn't know what it was I had got two 123 blocks and this for 5 bucks.

The block measures 3"x3.5" the top surface is ground maybe lapped to. It has fine v grooved lines on the top surface, looks like the bottom gets keyed into something? A machine, Inspection device,idk. Very heavy piece of some quality metal and fine work. I know it's a Pratt& Whitney thing but for what anybody have a clue?
 
It is mounted to the base of a comparator. The part to be measured rests on the anvil. The indicator, gauge head, etc. contacts to top of the part. The attached link shows a comparator with the anvil and gauge heed in place.
 
Yeah Tom Lipton made one for his comparator and did a video on it.
