What is this fixture called and what is it used for?

I got this 5C collet fixture with a lot of tools and don't know what it is for. It has a 24 position ball detent positioning feature but no way to lock it securely enough for milling. All of the other tools in this lot were Yuasa. Pulling the handle rotates the workpiece 15 degrees.

Thanks
JD

I would call it a very handy 15 degree indexer. . Seriously that is a keeper in my book. As long as it locks into position you are golden.

As for use. It would mount on a mill or even a drill press. It will mount in 2 axis’s so it can be very useful.

Whatever it’s used for must be common enough to keep making them — this one is listed currently on MSC website.

It does not lock very firmly, I think it would work fine for drilling but it does not seem secure enough for milling.

Maybe a good cleaning would help. It could be a nice addition to your shop.
