What should I do with this chunk of cast iron?

Rather than cutting it up for the salvaged pieces you would get out of it, maybe someone in your area would be willing to buy it and they in turn would restore it to working condition...
It's seeme to me that would be better than cutting it up.

We will see, it will be on craigslist until my new machine arrives. At least through the new year. I`d be willing to sell it cheap to someone who will restore it.

Although my justification to parting it out was potentially helping a few dozen others keep their version of this machine running.
 
There's plenty of life left in that machine, you are just looking too hard. That would be a perfect candidate for a rotary polisher. Mount a belt sander to the cross slide. You don't need perfection or precision for it to make nice finishes.
 
It would make a nice TC grinder. Mount a diamond wheel on the spindle and modify the tool holder to accommodate your needs. If I had space I would like an old lathe for sanding and grinding operations so I would not contaminate my good lathe with grit.
