My next upgrade on my Chinese 8x24 lathe will be an independent 4 jaw chuck 125mm. Looking for recommendations of which one to buy and the best way to adapt a 4 bolt mounting to a spindle face drilled for 3 hole. Would like an adapter to go from 3 hole to 4 hole. Not wanting to drill my spindle face.

Sounds like a chuck whereby the mounting bolts come through from the front would be the style you want. You may need to make an adapter backplate with two sets of bolt holes- threaded ones for the chuck and either plain or threaded for the spindle flange

Try checking LittleMachineShop.com. They sell small lathes and accessories for them and their catalog lists adapters
for 3 hole spindle flanges as well as chucks. If you talk with them they may have exactly what you need.

I wnet with this one. It has a small bore though but most of the things I need it for are to turn off center so having a 1.5 bore would be of no help.
