[Newbie] Wooden Tool Chest Over Metal?

I do not believe it matters whether your tool box is wood or metal. it's the climate that affects your tools. It is a "prestige" thing to keep your expensive ...or cheap...tools in a fancy wooden tool chest. It makes you "feel" better and it looks nice. And that is why my tools are in a fancy wooden chest.

After a discussion on here about "serial taps" used in Europe, I asked a guy I used to work with what they were. Took him a bit but he found them, then asked "Why would you want some of those?"

I said "Ray, machinists don't use 95% of the tools in their tool box. They are solely for the purpose of when other machinists walk by, so you can say 'Hey! Check this out,' leading to tool envy and bragging rights." He laughed and said "Touché!"

Whatever you do, NEVER store aspirin or Goody's or BC Powder or the like in your toolbox. It's acidic and will eat the paint off the metal boxes, rust everything in fume range and ruin lots of good precision tools.
