I'm modifying my pm 25v mill with a few things, dro's, power feed, increased height of column, just minor changes. I'll add pix after putting head back on. Column extension is major job itself as it was p110 drill collar material of 38 to45 rockwell 'C" hardness. machined on my old rong fu rf30 mill drill. Wnt through 6 hss end mills and will have to resharpen carbide end mill. The pockets were a dog,.
Later gents and ladies.

Wow looks to be quite the undertaking! I will be watching with much interest.

I was going to WOW but tweinke beat me- quite a project, impressive work. Looks like you have a bandsaw project waiting back there too

Why use hardened material for the column extension?

That was the material available! I needed the cross section for bending, it is three times as stiff as existing base, but has some movement. More than cast iron in any event, but well within tolerance. Pix shows whole mill tricked out.

Next trick is to make the gear adapter for feed. Then I can make all the parts i need before I forget how to use it!
