Worn spiral gear on Atlas MFC

I received the replacement gear. It is indeed steel, but otherwise identical to the old, worn brass/bronze part. The eBay seller called the part that I bought an S7-60A. My 1962 Atlas mill manual shows the part as S7-60. So maybe at some point since 1962 Atlas changed to steel and called it an "A".

At any rate, I am back in business. Thank you for all the help everyone.

OK. Glad to hear that the table lift problem is fixed.

The spiral gear S7-60 was of course originally used on the S7 Shaper. Per the Atlas SOP at the time, when the mill designers needed a pair of gears for the same function, they found them already in use on the shaper. We only have copies of two of the ten or so Shaper parts manuals , S7B-2-1 (January 1947) and S7B-5 (August 1953). Sometime between the two, the part number and part changed from S7B-60 to S7B-60A. For whatever reason, the change never made it into the Mill parts manuals. Give me a few minutes and Rev 8-1 will be in Downloads.
