Z axis lube

My Rockwell mill knee chatters, no time to take it apart. Half tea spoon of Lucas Oil Stabilizer on each Z dovetail. Cycled the knee a couple times, then added way lube. No chatter. Might help your machine. YMMV

I use Mobil Vactra Oil # 2 on all my ways, seems to do a good job.

Chatter caused by loose gibs or not using clamping locks?

I use chain saw bar oil, no chatter yet. Bar oil is easier for me to get than way oil and cheaper.
Besides that, I've never heard a chainsaw bar chatter yet

Mill knee has stick/slip on traverse. Doesn't matter if gibs are loose or tight. Seller suspected this mill was bought for a job, then languished for years. Posted the Lucas info for anyone with a similar prob, may help, may not.
