Has anyone on here installed a Boyds laminated gunstock? If so what were your opinions on fit, form, and function.
I am considering getting the fetherweight thumbhole design, and would like some " pros & cons" of this brand. Thanks in advance!

I 've never bought one of his, but I've read good and bad. The inletting isn't 100% fit! takes fitting. But for most that shouldn't be an issue, from someone here. T he wood product itself I doubt is a problem, the laminate comes from Rutland most likely.

I do expect some fitting. I am considering glass bedding the action in, and leaving the barrel "floating".

I own a Boyds thumb hole sporter stock in Applejack for my Ruger 10/22. VERY nice stock. Inletting was perfect, although I bedded it anyway. But sadly I can't use it anymore because of the SAFE act that went into effect right after I got the stock. That was $100 down the tube.....

Does the stock make the rifle an "assault weapon"?
Also, if I knew smeone intrestd in buying it, what would you take for it?

Uhh....basically. Because it has two "military features" Semi automatic and thumbhole.
I'm not even allowed to sell it, even through an FFL because of this "safe" act.

I bought a featherweight thumbhole stock for my Remington 700 stainless. The fit wasn't perfect but I was going to pillar bed it anyway. The only problem I found is that it is a little long from the hand grip to the trigger guard as well as I have to shorten the length of pull to match my rather small frame of 5ft, 6in. The stock looks great and has very good balance with a 21" standard weight .223 Shilen barrel. I don't think you can go wrong for the price.

Joconnor, that is one awsome looking rifle.

Andre, Im sorry for your predicament. I read a little on this safe act, and it seems bum rush ,and confusion were the 2 main ingredients.

It would be nice if someone who knew anything about guns took part in making these laws. And then having these unforseen consequences.

It's amazing how those a holes in NY and some other people in Wash. think a certain type of stock can make a rifle into a weapon of mass destruction.

I have used the Boyds stocks on a Ruger and a Savage rifle and they both fit well. For a lower priced stock they provide excellent quality.
