When you get to me and my drawings, I think I'd like the drawings you started with. Of course I may ask some questions about what you changed and why, but I may want to put my own spin on this.

Tool and cutter grinder build

When you get to me and my drawings, I think I'd like the drawings you started with. Of course I may ask some questions about what you changed and why, but I may want to put my own spin on this.
I have decided that hot spot is that seal. I am not sure why but the bearing areas are cool and just that front seal area gets hot. Maybe it will wear in. the rear seal isn't and they are the same seal. the shaft areas for the seal are the same size. the only difference between the front and rear is the front is steel and the rear is aluminum.
It takes a while to get hot, so it won't be a problem grinding as it won't run that long at a time.

Ok... here is a picture of the grinder with my cobbed up belt on it. It will work until a new belt is ordered.
The grinder is essentially done. I have to make a couple of scale pointers and the square collet inserts and then any other adapters needed to grind tools, and also the front bar covers. I will post some photos of the grinder and accessories I have so far the beginning of the week here.

Instead of me emailing the information on this grinder build to each person that has requested it, I am posting all the information in PDF format here for you to download what info you want.
I MAKE NO GUARANTEES ON THIS INFORMATION. I have done my best to record everything the best I could . I am sure there are mistakes as this is the largest project I have done and it was a lot of work to gather these records and do the build at the same time. So, check everything carefully before using it.
There is a file of prints for the original Bonelle grinder which I based mine on , but abandoned these print to make major changes that I desired in my machine.
The is a file of Prints for what I actually built. ( I am sure there are some mistakes so check everything before using)
There is a file of all the photos taken during this build.
There is a material list of the materials for the parts I made. ( it should be fairly complete, but will give a good idea of what is needed)
There are two files (Part one and Part two) that basically chronicle this build. they contain the info and photos mostly of what is in this thread.
This thread will continue as I learn to use the grinder and make some finishing touches, so don't even think this is the end. But , at this point, I want to thank everyone who watched, helped me out along the way, gave me advice and criticism. You all have been great. I want to especially thank Bill Gruby for his assistance ( and putting up with all my questions).

If the weld is done correctly, it will be 100% as strong as the virgin part of the belting. One problem that comes to mind when welding is you must hold the weld together firmly for at least 1 minute while cooling. And then you must let it rest and cure for another 15 minutes. After that you are good to go. And I’m not positive, but I think urethane will shrink in boiling water? That’s a trick I use when helping my wife out on her vintage doll business. When the plastic/vinyl/rubber parts become too loose from age, I boil them in hot water and then immediately in ice water and they shrink…Good Luck, Dave.
