To me a tool gloat is when you get something that's highly desirable or uncommon and at a great price. I've been looking for a metal bender for a couple of years. I missed a DiAcro for $50 about 2 years ago. Last week I spotted a small metal bender on Craigslist and emailed the seller right away. By the next AM I had a phone number to call and phoned first thing. I told him I wanted the metal bender and that I was an hour and a half away and was leaving after we hung up. It took longer to get there than I thought. When I arrived there was a woman looking over the stuff, and when I approached he told her I was the one who had called him about the bender, so I had first dibs. I glanced at it and said sold. It turns out she was a dealer; the kind of person who makes our hobby more expensive. I thanked the man for saving it for me. I bought a few other items. The bender is a Duo-Mite 50000 and it came with all the parts it was supposed to along with the bench mounting accessory and the edge bending accessory. The price - I paid $25 for it and it looks like it was never used. No rust or anything. The current selling price - if you can find one is $400.

Nice score. :you suck: Great find. Now wat are you holding out on us. We wan't to see everything.

Oh, the other stuff wasn't that great. Good prices, but not really gloat worthy. I got a 12' three phase extension cord with four prong L-30 plugs on both ends instead of the L-20 that I need $10. Couldn't remember what I needed until I got it home and compared it to what I have. I still haven't looked to see what gage wire is in the cord, but it's appropriately fat for at least 20A. Also got an ammo box with a full box of 12 Ga 3" steel waterfowl shot and another almost full box of steel shot shells, a bandolier for shotgun shells and two boxes of 22 for $10. Got a hand held metal shear/nibbler and a wire crimper for $3. The guy also gave me a male L-20 3 phase plug. The crimper is kind of neat. Four fingers come in and crimp the terminal instead of the usual way of squashing it inward on one side. It's intended use is for solid copper crimp rings for joining the ground wires in electrical outlets, but I can fit the usual spade and ring terminals in there and they work.

Those crimping pliers are used with Buchanan crimps and caps. I still have a pair my dad and I used for all of the wiring connectors in the family homestead. I reinspected most of the connections almost 25 years later and all were doing fine! I still use it occasionally around the house. It's getting hard to find the crimps and caps today.

I have one of those benders. It is a pretty good little gizmo. I'm afraid I paid Amazon prices for mine. I had a job that required it and couldn't wait for a better deal.

It is indeed an Ideal / Buchanan crimper. I don't know what the intended crimp rings look like, but the standard crimp rings from Lowes fit in.
