I have had this for about a year , but have let accumulate dust. I was a it put-off by it being 3 phase. So I finally bit the bullet and bought a static converter on eBay. Never done this before. Started up in reverse rotation but I switched the wires around . Runs as it should now. Got to make shrouding for it now and maybe platen for flat grinding

Those machines are workhorses. What size motor came with it? If it's not one of the huge ones, you might want to consider getting a VFD instead of using the phase converter - it'll give you variable speed, which opens up a wealth of possibilities...

Congrats on getting it up and running!

Hey Matthew, the motor is 5 HP. I think I will use it some before I make any changes, but I can see some advantages switching to VFD. Thanks for the reply.

A good 5 hp VFD is pretty expensive, and the 3 hp or so you are getting out of that static converter may meet all your needs.

5 HP seems like a lot more horses than that rig needs.
It is a nice find! Glad you got it going.
