I have been looking for a good used Mill that is within 400 Miles of Kansas City and not priced over $1200.
I see all kinds of used ones on the East or West Coast but nothing in the midwest under $3000 on up.
I missed out on a Bridgeport J Head 5 months ago for $850, but I was laid up in hospital at the time and the guy wouldn't hold it. I even explained that I would send the wife with cash if he could store it for 30 days and no go.
It doesn't have to be a big name brand, just not a rusted hunk of iron.
If anyone sees a good used mill, let me know please.
Thanks.

I know of a couple of Bridgeports that will be coming up for sale in probably 2-3 weeks, but they are more like 500 miles from Ozawaki. Also a K&T Model D No 2 will be up about the same time. Pretty sure they will be reasonably priced. The K&T is a rather special mill. You should google it to see its description. IIRC it has 7 motors.

Thanks Tony.
The K&T looks to be more than I would need or be able to fit in my shop.
Let me know about the Bridgeports when they come available. If I have to drive a little farther to get a good deal, I might just have to talk the wife into taking a mini vacation at the same time.

I'll be getting all the specifics on the machines that are selling off and let you know. There will be a couple of lathes (Rivetts) and maybe a Hendy. We'll see.

Govdeals.com has a Bridgeport for sale in KC right now. They have it listed as a drill.

Vince,
That Bridgeport was a total POS. It still sold for $1100.
The ways looked like someone took an Angle grinder to them.
The quill was loose.
Pieces were missing and would cost to much to buy.

I have been checking out the Grizzly G0758 or G0704. Wouldn't be much of a drive to go pick one up in Springfield, Mo.
I could actually talk the wife into taking a vacation in Branson and then pick it up on the way back home.
Just wonder if anyone has either one of them and how do they like them.

My first mill was a RongFu round column mill/drill.
She was an gateway drug. I got frustrated quickly with the inability to tram her in and to take reasonable sized cuts. I won't diss RongFu, Grizzley, Jet, etc. Near as I can tell they are an excellent value for what they are. Don't expect them to be something different. Consider if you need a bench top model or if you have the space and power for a free standing machine. Likely that for far less than half the price you could find a small Burke horizontal mill and a drill press. Or consider a Van Norman. Lot's of options. Really depends on what you hope to plan to make. Table size is a limiting factor.

Consider posting a request here on HM. There may be horizontal enthusiasts in your area who would proudly give you a tour of their horizontal. Remember that there are limitations and strengths to each machine.

I've looked at some Horizontals and what they can do, but for the type of milling I plan to do I would be better suited with a Vertical mill. I am limited on funds, so what ever I get, I don't want to put anymore money in it to start using it. Space wise 36" square and no more than 89" high.
That's why I was looking at the Grizzly G0704 or Go758.
If anyone has either one or something similar in size and cost. I would appreciate any info or suggestions.

I know of an Index vertical knee-mill for sale for $800. It is the "smaller" type, garage size mill. The same guy I just bought the Atlas lathe from has it. There is not much tooling with it. It has the 30" table. It has a vice and some misc cutters. I don't know what the model # is. It's an older mill. Currently it runs on 110V, but can be ran on 220V. I'm sure doing some Google searches you can find it. It is about 6ft tall. It is a nice, smaller knee-type mill. If I had the extra $800 I would buy it myself. It is in Adrian, MI. Not sure how far that is from you.

I think I can post links now. I'll edit this post if I find the link and include it in this response.
