Looking for some info.
Eventually, I'd like to get into modifying, designing, and building high powered air rifles along with accessories.
Currently they are not considered firearms by the ATF, but many States do.
Looking for information and/or resources for what is required to do this legally.
I'm in Illinois, but also interested for other States that have restrictions.

Do some Google searching. There are websites and YouTube's devoted to airguns.

Yes there are and I've visited many of them.
Haven't found anything concerning laws/regulations/liscensing required though.

IIRC Michigan defines airguns as firearms and regulates them as such.

Illinois does as well. I have an Illinois FOID (Firearm Owners ID card) required by the state to posses guns.
I found this site (http://smartgunlaws.org/non-powder-guns-policy-summary/,) that covers which states have regulations on airguns.
Question is, I guess, is what does it take to be a legal airsmith ?
