hi all,

on the off chance that anyone has a spare "might need it one day" over/ under reamer set they'd like to sell, I'm after one :) Another option is an adjustable reamer, but I've heard that they can be a bear to set up right and only work on through holes. Main need, sometime in the future, is to ream a couple of replacement countershaft bushings to fit my lathe counter shaft (0.5in).

thanks!
matt

thanks! Just like that, but ideally the main fractional set (1/8, 3/16, 1/4 etc) over'n'under. I may end up saving my pennies and waiting for another Enco sale to get a new set, they don't come up very often on eBay.

Oh a complete set. They way I read your post I was thinking just the half inch set. I bought this set from the same seller. http://www.ebay.com/itm/231655931135 it's not a complete O/U set but lots of good sizes and a good price for all American made reamers.

no worries and thanks for the replies. Right now I only have a need for the half inch over/under, but I'll probably need the others at some point. I used a set at my last job to make some collets which came in very handy. Thanks for the link, that's quite an impressive set just a bit (well, alot really) more than I can afford right now.

Matt,

If the countershaft spindle diameter is 0.500", a stock 1/2" ID bushing should fit it fine.

thanks Robert, but I'll be using some 12mm ID bushings I got for cheap, hence the need to take them out just a smidge. I also read (no practical experience) that the ID may change after press fit, depending on the degree of fit, so it's good practice to ream the ID after fitting. Might also help with keeping the 2 sets of bores perfectly planar too, if I do it in one step.
Sounds a bit silly to spend money getting tools to save money on materials, but I've needed over/unders before for other sizes so I think it would be tooling that I would use in the future.

You do realize what you are asking? Let's say you wanted the over/under for reamers in fractional sizes from 1/16 to 1/2 by 64ths, same as a standard Drill Set. Since the over for each is not the under for the next size the total number of reamers in the set will reach 87 pieces. 29 X 3. What sizes are you actually looking for?

This is a good deal
