i have the tap head but I need collets , Ken gave me a #10 collet thanks Ken , tap head seems to work good.
Looked on MSC and found some , I would like collets from #6-1/4" I was thinking #12 is a1/4" collet is that so
Also listed was a 1/8 collet and a #8 are they the same ? .There kinda proud of these collets so was hoping to get it right first time, so is a 1/8" and #8 the same ,and a #12 and 1/4" the same ?,what collets go with what taps. I'll order from Enco with msc pt#s worked last time :big grin: lower cost ,
or any other type collet compatible with this tap head, could also use a new collet nut,
Thanks
Any advice much appreciated

The nominal diameter of a #8 tap is 5/32". The diameter of a #12 tap is 7/32". This is the site I went to to get this info. http://www.icscuttingtools.com/tap-dimensions.htm. This should give you the information you need to order your collets.

Thanks for the link , still confused, is the screw machine # the collet size,

Derrik,

They are different collets. Your chances of finding the 1/8" and #12 are vary slim. I have a #12 and #14 that go to my #2 Procunier tapping head that were in a batch of collets I bought several years back.

Yes. They stamp the size on the flat on the collet. Like the one I sent you, it has a "10" stamped on the flat. That is the screw size for the tap it will hold. It'll hold either a 10-24 or 10-32 tap.
For 1/8 or 3/16, it will be stamped "1/8" or "3/16" for the screw size, on the flat.

Ordered #6-8-1/4 , Enco dosn't list them on there site, gave Enco the msc # And they have them $10.00 cheaper than msc at normal price + 15% - free shipping, what the heck so I also ordered a drill doc 750

Ken , You have to call Enco with Msc pt# and they give you Enco # to enter in cart, quite a bet cheeper with Enco discount codes

Amazing, isn't it. One supplier verses another! Glad you were able to find them.

They are somehow related , but Enco dosn't list a lot of stuff Msc dose on there site,
I think it all comes out of the same distribution centers

EBay is even cheaper. That is where I got mine.
