If you use Ad-Blocker, please read this notification. This will affect you and your experience here at Hobby-Machinist and we want to make sure everyone is up-to-speed and clear on the policies around the use of AdBlocker.

Hobby-Machinist is a non-profit organization and as such, operates off from donations to cover the costs of hosting the site and other expenses such as subscriptions to software services and support. Donations are provided through individual members, manufacturers and service providers who consider the content and community here at Hobby-Machinist worth supporting. There are several donation levels available and ALL of them are 100% AD-FREE. The least costly is the Silver level at $10 per year and the best bargain is the Lifetime Diamond level donation - a one time donation of $150 will help sustain Hobby Machinist for years to come.

The costs of running the site are numerous and any gaps in donations are covered by Ad revenue. Registered members play a critical role in providing the Ad revenue. However, many members choose to use AdBlocker in order to access content AD-FREE. While this is an arguably effective way to experience content here at H-M, the simple fact is that you are accessing content that costs real money to deliver through our hosting service and the software providers. This content is provided to over 31,000 members and only a couple thousand members donate to the site.

Moving forward, if you use Ad-Blocker, successive attempts to block ads will automatically remove viewing privileges on the forum - until you disable ad-blocker in your browser. Our goal with this move is not to bombard you with ads. However, if we can detect which ads are effective in providing money to cover expenses, then we can refine this ad campaign and maximize your online experience with fewer ads over time. But this can't be done if you have Ad-Blocker on.

The easy solution is that donations are welcome and you can enjoy the ad free experience that other donating members enjoy. But if you choose not to, that's perfectly fine, but the rules for non-donating members is that ad-blocker is turned off.

Hopefully you can appreciate this message in that we are trying to ensure as many people can enjoy all there is to offer at Hobby-Machinist, but also recognize that your experience comes at a small cost to others. If we all share in that cost, whether it is through donations or ad revenue - everybody wins.
