I made this riser many moons ago when I bought my Jet BD920. I stand 5'12" tall and found the factory stand to be a bit short. This stand raises the entire lathe about 8.75". It also makes it easily mobile by a set of casters under the riser. The riser is constructed of 2x6 and 2x8's. When sitting flat the casters are about 1/8" off the ground, but when raised by the tang the base is mobile.

Here is the only underside shot I have of the riser. It was taken with a 35mm camera. You can see the general setup. The tang is piece of scrap 2.25" x .375 metal I had in my scrap box.

And this is a shot of it today with the lathe stand mounted on the riser. Over the years this has served me well as I don't have to hunch over to use the lathe.

Nice stand. My first though just looking at the stand was how short it was gonna sit.
