I follow a few people. But there seems to be no use for it.
On my Wood working forum I can get notifications when they post.
Or I can see new posts of ppl I follow. Here there seems to be no purpose to following someone.
Is there a bunch of tools I'm missing?

I follow a few also, but have never gotten notifications when they post unless they are posting to a thread that I am already watching or have posted to myself. I have not been able to thoroughly test any of this, but it is something that we can look into going forward. It is very possible that the follow function does not work here the same way it does with other forum software. This is something of a lower priority issue, but I will see what I can come up with for you.

That's fine. Thanks for letting me know.

Jeff, I did some more research on this. I would tend to think that if I were following someone that I would get an alert for anything that he or she does, but that does not appear to be the case. The only thing that happens when you choose to follow someone is that person will get an alert that you are following him or her. All of the options that are available for alerts are available by clicking on 'Alerts' on the menu bar, then click on 'Preferences' in the Alerts drop down box. The only option available there concerning 'Following' is whether or not you want to be notified when someone follows you.

I looked through the documentation and cannot find one reasonably valuable function that occurs when you choose to follow someone. It is remotely possible that there is more to it, but I have not found anything as yet. Sorry, but it appears that the functionality we expected does not exist within the software. Whether this is a bug or if it is by design I do not know. I have sent it up the chain to have our tech guy report it as a bug to XenForo. Beyond that there is nothing I can do, so will consider the matter closed.
