I have recently acquired a 645 with a slotting head. It had set in a corner of an oilfield shop for years. It was the smallest machine in the shop.
I had a Index 555 several years ago, made and repaired many things with it.
So back to the 645, it’s missing the knee crank handle, it takes a 6 segment one unlike a Bridgeport that uses a 9 segment. So anyone have a crank handle that fits a 645?
The quill is not R8 but missing the draw bar. (Well it turns out that it’s a B&S9)
my old 555 used a length of all thread, I may go that if I can’t find the proper one.
I did lots of work with the B&S9, and er32 collets, looks like I will be there again.
As far as the slotting head, it works has a single phase motor and I have no idea how to use it, and advise will be appreciated. I pulled the slotter off the mill, it fit on a engine stand.
