I did not know where to post this but I thought that this would be the most appropriate forum.
I purchased this D&K through an online estate sale, It looked a little rough in the photos but I was incredibly disappointed in its condition when I went to pick it up. It was painfully apparent that the Break had been involved in a fire that was hot enough to melt the aluminum tags and handles.
Well not much to do but pack it up and take it home for disassembly and see if it was salvageable. after soaking the fasteners in an assortment of solvents and careful use of a really hard hitting impact gun I was finally able to get it apart. Fortunately all of the bronze bearings were in good condition abet being worn out, I proceed to have all of the parts grit blasted by Express Metal Cleaning in Phoenix "good shop and people" , Because this break weighs close to a ton I proceeded to make new wheeled bases for it, I then spent time de burring and radiusing all of the flame cut plates before applying the epoxy primer and acrylic urethane topcoat. I install all new bronze bushings, machined a missing 1/2 insert bar for the apron and reassembled the break. I've only had the opportunity to bend some 18 ga test strips but it produces accurate bends throughout the 4' length.
