I have a set of exhaust manifolds that needs resurfacing. Just wondering if someone near me, Muskogee, Okla, could do this for me. I think I would prefer grinding, but not sure. I need some one that will take their time these exhaust manifolds are rare and expensive! ($2000!!). Thanks

These manifolds are very large and while they probably could be done on a mill, I would be nervous, due to the way they are designed. I don’t have a large mill, my mill doesn’t have enough travel. I don’t think. I may build a complex gig and try it on a mill. But if I could find a large belt sander I would be more comfortable.

Find a someone with a 8" wide x 6 ' long sanding belt for fine finishing wood.
Local Amish saw mill has a sander that looks like this only smaller

Yes that is what I am thinking would work. I am even thinking about buying one , if I can find one somewhat local and reasonable!

Two arbors like the old double grinding wheel arbors as shown above,
Some thing between them for a adjustable belt tensioner
Motor to drive it, table to mount it to and you are almost there!

Yeah, I had a chance to buy a long belt sander a while back, but it was a hike and I messed around and it disappeared.
I’ll stumble onto one one of these days.
