Al Unser, a four-time winner of Indianapolis 500, dies at 82

Al Unser, one of only four drivers to win the Indianapolis 500 a record four times, died Thursday following years of health issues. He was 82.

For the past 35 years I've worked a job that has involved at least one weekend day, usually a Sunday, so it's rare for me to have that day free. Except for the one time during the year when I would request a Sunday off, and that was to watch the Indy 500.

Dam, it must be the holidays. There was nothing like the Indy 500 back in the day before they decided that it was better to race sames.

I always liked Al Uncer and it was a lot more fun to watch (or listen too) when it was run what you brung.

I've watched many an Indy 500 rerun to see the greats like Unser run.
He will be missed.
