Sherline self centering 4 jaw scroll chuck

Is this chuck very useful or is it just a specialized tool?

Have owned one for decades, used it twice to hold square stock. Don't waste your money. Get a 4jaw independent instead.

That's what I thought. I was offered one at about half retail. I just can't figure where it would be useful. I already have two 4 jaw independents and two 3 jaw scrolls just to keep from swapping the jaws around.
