Spring cleaning my basement tool hoard turned up a Williams special wrench,a perfect fit for my thread protector on my 10L lathe.
I bought the handwheel collet closer and collets last summer, everything was okay but the wrench included was a somewhat shabby attempt at a reproduction. Now I have an authentic Williams.
Not the find of the century but it's a pleasant surprise

I have two identical ones, one made by southbend and one by williams. I got them before I got my first lathe and they do fit the thread protector on my southbend but bubba but made the holes into not that with a punch. Still have two useless wrenches.

I have a Williams wrench that is articulated in the middle of the span, and it fits the thread protector, the collet closer, and the lock ring on my shop-made large-diameter collet system.

The one I bought is the Williams JHWO-474, about fifty bucks on Amazon. It covers a range of diameters of 2 to 4-3/4". I think I bought mine from somewhere else, maybe Harry J Epstein, a couple of years ago.
