Dial indicator repair

I went through a half dozen indicators that I inherited from my dad. These were all name brand indicators, and it seems to me the older they are, the easier to get into them. There is really not so much inside these, and they all look basically alike in design. I could "repair" 5 of them, one had the guide pin that's perpendicular to and comes off of the main plunger which had come out of its channel. The others, surprisingly a tiny drop of lightweight oil externally on the top and bottom of the plunger loosened them up fine. Will they stay that way? We'll see. The one I could not get working was an 0.0001 Starret that I recall from childhood...my brother and I would run around the house pushing the plunger as fast as we could, thinking we were "timing ourselves". My dad was a kind, patient and forgiving father. RIP.
