Yeah, I almost clear coated it at this point and left it looking that way. All I used was a grinder with a wire wheel and a wire brush. the wire brush was mostly for the gears as the wheel would not get in the teeth so good.

WoW! That thing cleaned up nice!

I put the finishing touches on my vise handle today. Turned out a knob and threaded the shaft for it. It's complete... for now :)

Well I put it all back together and found a bit more front to back play then I liked.

I had noted a grove on the inside of the trap door that I suspected was from wear So I took the trap door off the front and milled it down on both of the highs till it was flat.

I made a new handle and also made a thumb screw to lock the handle from sliding. yes it is brass.

The handle ends are pressed on over a knurl with a little Jb-Weld on it. All that is left is to make the plate for the bottom.

I decided to try threading for the first time today.

After I remembered to use the threading dial, they came out pretty good.

Looks like it worked. They look pretty cleen too. Now you should make a 3/8- 14 and take it to the hardware store to drive them nuts.:dunno:


That just ain't right to do them ol boys like that...

That's our next big hurdle we want to tackle on our Machine.
Never did any so reckon now is the time better than any other
Except ours will be in Metric
