Have recently picked up a 3 year old but brand new 9X20 Jet lathe.
Cleaned it up and changed the gears to thread 28TPI.
When I check the threads, it is running more like 29+TPI.
I have triple checked the gears but can't figure this one out but I may be missing something.
Anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

Are you sure its not a metric lathe?

Cheers Phil

If it's only 3 yrs old I'd talk to Mr. Jet, they should be able to help by serial number or description. Metric could very well be as they're products come from the orient not just china----I believe.

look at the picture real close where the gears are placed you may be running off the wrong big gear i had this problem and it is hard to see in the pic. i'm in the house not in the shop to say what the setup is just look real close how it drives the big gear. it may be even that you flip the last gear going into the the gearbox so it rides the other big gear, i know it is hard to pick up the difference in the pic. mine was shipped originaly setup for metric threads.

jumps4, you were right on. Machine can turn metric and inch threads and I had it on the wrong big gear.
Swapped the spacer and all is right in the world!
Can't thank you enough.
