as promised on a previous thread here is the lathe i picked up this morning in Conn.
by the photos that were sent to me i figured it was a barnes, hoping it was a no. 4 1/2 but upon closer inspection
(in Conn.) i realized it was a bit larger...oh well.
i was planning to tool up my barnes 4 1/2 with this purchase but all is well as i am going to keep this one intact and restored.
it has a crappy light colored paint job which i will remove and repaint a proper black.
the spindle has no movement that i can detect by lifting the chuck but i will eventually test with an indicator.
its in decent shape for its age and will be taken care of from here on out.
tomorrow morning i am going to New Bedford to pick up the W.P. Davis machine co. lathe!
stay tuned...don't touch that dial
