I just acquired a 3-D printed spindle wedge for my 10L from eBay (as pictured below) but I was wondering how the old timers locked the spindle for removal of a stubborn chuck.

I know using the back-gear is an absolute no-no.

I have an import 12x36, and while I know the stigma, I always lock the back gears for chuck install and removal.

I use a strap wrench on my cone pulley. This worked to remove my ORIGINAL 1942 chuck! It was STUCK! I used a 4' bar in the chuck
