I generally hang out on the south bend side of this forum but I think this question ius more applicable here.

About a year or so ago I bought some collets in anticipation of buying a van norman mill i was hot on the heels of. Well the mill deal fell apart and now I have these collets. I was hoping I could adapt them to use on a SB lathe (5C) but that's not going to work.
The collets were advertised as 5V but the markings are varied. Here's what I know:
1. all 17 collets have 18 TPI
2. All 17 collets have a woodruff key slot
3. 11 of the 17 have a number on the collet face (3, 8, 12, 14, 21, 22, 30, 33, 36, 37, 390) and Van Norman on the barrel of the collet.
4. 2 collets have face markings of 5VN 1-2 1/2 button and 5VN 10-2 9/16 button
5. 1 collet is marked hardinge 5V 3/16
6. 1 collet has face markings of C Van Norman 1/16
7. 1 collet has only 7/16 on the face
8. 1 collet has no markings but measures 1/4
9. the general dimensions match up with what I could find on the web for 5V collets
Can I assume that these conform to 5V standards? What do the 11 with just numerical markings represent - metric?

Also included were two "adapters" I think - wondering what these really are?
the first was marked 0-1133-V and has an 18 TPI and a body diamter that matches up with 5V

The second is marked Stewart Mfg Co 4NS 2 with 20 TPI

Thanks for any insight you may have
