THE DRILL PRESS PART 3, MACHINE SHOP LESSON 8, That gives a great explanation on the subject and is worth watching especially for those who are just getting started. I recommend Watching all his videos as they very informative are well worth your time.

Yes, Tom, I enjoyed that video also. Marc does a good job of teaching the basics, which we all need to understand and refresh our brains once in a while. His explanation of making an accurately sized and located hole by using a drill first, then a boring bar, and finally a reamer was excellent!

I also recommend his videos. One little trick that might help some of you:

He speaks so slowly that you can use the "settings star" at the bottom right of the video to set the playback speed to 150% or even 200%. Then you can slow down the video when he gets to something that you don't already know.

I got a kick out of his passion when explaining how to pick a drill size for a given final dimension (about 24:15). Didn't know that one either.
