Flip A Machine R&r Resale ?

One option would be to sell in machine deserts such as Phoenix, Vegas, and Southern California.

Add to that list Atlanta. Lots of hobby interest here, but nearly zero manufacturing base to supply the used market. Only one professional machine re-seller, and he never has anything hobby-size.

IMHO the only way to make money on machines is for them to be given to you and hope they don't take too much work to fix up enough to sell. You can't work for free. If you can't get your labor back at a good rate you may as well get a job at MickyD's flippin' burgers. It's less of a burden if you can move and handle the machines yourself.

The best way to make money on a machine, or really anything else for that matter, is to put it to work. As drom68 stated, find some jobs to make the machines pay for themselves.

Be sure to check every gear for missing teeth. Especially the ones inside the quick change gear box and the bull gear. Those are expensive and would take it from a good deal to no deal instantly. Half nut, cross feed, and feed clutch are next. If it really is in perfect working condition, that is a good price. I have flipped 3 Logan lathes, and there are hidden pitfalls. Be sure to go through it with a fine tooth comb before you pay.
