B-29 Doc was in town this weekend, so my son and I went to take a look. We missed it the last time it was here a few years ago, so I’m glad we could get there this time.

For those of you who don’t know, there are only two B-29s in the world that are still flying.

I’m glad I’m not the guy who has to polish all that aluminum…

Looking up into the forward bombay. 1000 lb bomb on the left, 500 lb bomb on the right. In the center is the crawl tunnel that connects the fore and aft pressurized sections.

Very nice! I think that was the one my wife and I crawled through at the San Antonio air show this year. It's weird how it was such a physically big airplane in WW2 but now looks tiny vs. anything but a fighter.

The B-29 was classified as a heavy bomber at the end of WW II. Less than five years later the B-36 entered service and the B-29 was re-classed to medium bomber. As big as a '29 is, it would almost fit under one wing of a '36.

I'm certainly glad to see a second B-29 restored to fly. Hopefully it will be around for many years.

Thanks for the pics!

I've seen and been in a couple of B-17's, one B-24 and B-26. Always wanted to see and get in a B-29. My uncle flew right seat in one in Korea. He's the little square jawed guy, third from the right.
