Here's a link to my initial tool rack. It's been modified a couple of times as the original only held 12 or 13 tools.

some one boogered up the sealing flange on this tank a while ago while out on rental..since it is a pressurized tank this was a problem....sawed off the flang part that left me with a nice straight tube....I then modified this aircraft plug that I had into a tank bung and cap...machined the...www.hobby-machinist.com
It's Unistrut as you noted. The tool holders are 1/8" aluminum, 1 5/8" x 2 1/4". Drill/countersink a screw hole, bend a 90 with the brake, 1/4" flat head cap screw to a Unistrut nut.
Excessive? No question. I bought over 60 BXA holders from CDCOtools for $11 or $12 each back in the day. Still an investment and mostly frivolous. There are a few tools that have set unused on the rack for 5 years.

Mitch, Which lathe do you have? I'm not criticizing. I'm no professional. I'm just curious. Not too many hobby sized machines can handle negative rake tooling or inserts with large(r) radius tips. I started with a Shoptask 3in1, moved to a 12x36" belt drive import and wound up with a 13x40" gear...www.hobby-machinist.comHow do your store your QCTP Toolholder's?
I used unistrut on the backsplash of my Grizzly G0709 14" x 40". I made a rolling backsplash for my Clausing 5418 12" x 24" and have unistrut on it also. I made brackets from 1/8" thick aluminum; used a Tennsmith stomp shear and DiAcro brake to form the right angle brackets. My photos of the...www.hobby-machinist.com2017 POTD Thread Archive
I'll be out with friends / family and they'll be sitting around talking about Game of Thrones, Deck of Cards, or whatever TV show is the rage these days, and all I want to do is scream because if I brought up the latest video from ecdez I would just get blank stares. I don't watch TV except for...www.hobby-machinist.comBuying a lathe, what tooling should I get/avoid?
I don't really know that much about #4 way oil. My 13x40 lathe manual said to use Vactra #2, so I did, and it seems fine, but I have nothing else to compare it to other than oils for different applications.www.hobby-machinist.com2016 POTD Thread Archive
I love seeing this paint already doing its job first thing this rainy morning. :) I was a little concerned when the paint was still tacky on the shady-er end of the project (nearest the garage, away from the street) as it got dark and dipped down cooler than the temperature range indicated on...www.hobby-machinist.com
Oh man... I have some of that Unistrut material that I rescued from a bench that came with the 9x20... added to my mod list!
