"...with no burrs..." - that's never correct. Never. Every metal-cutting operation (even grinding) leaves a burr. It's just the size that changes.
And finally! A use for my old socks! I'm still not going to hold it in my hand... Beginner or not, I think you should always have a stop to prevent rotation.
I guess he never drill holes in sheet metal. I have drill thousands of holes in sheet using 3/16" up 9/16" using twist drill bits.
Not a problem.
As the drill gets bigger a fatter face is a little easier.
A step drill is ok for few holes on ladder.
YouTube is full of people trying a buck today.
