Is It Practical To Scrape Older Starrett Steel Straight Edge Back To Decent Tolerance?

Thanks for all your replies. It was the type you were thinking of. It ended up being a chasing my tail situation. You were right. The tool was not meant for what I was attempting. The applies force applied during the scraping process continued to distort the object. Also as a test I tested the runout in the morning when the shop was cold and again when it was warmer in the afternoon. It's spotting pattern would change throughout the day. I did learn so things about scraping and how steel moves, and some more practice scraping.
