Well, after getting the lathe all spiffy and running it wasn't long before I needed to turn an accurate taper. And after viewing this video I proceeded with the project.
While in the process of the project I discovered that the compound slide could use a scale on the side of it for reference. I just used tape and pencil markings to finish the project. The modification jumped to the head of the project list.
I made a light mill cut for the scale to get a smooth clean finish. I used an engraving cutter for the graduations. And hand stamps for the numbers. I polished the scale surface and painted the all the marks. I made a small pointer out of aluminum. Here are the photos of the finished modification.
