Mill vise problem

Sounds like the permanent fix would be to remove the fixed jaw and take a skim cut across the vise back face to make it perpendicular-
but the jaw may require truing up also

Another perspective is that many guys tighten way too tight on their vises. In a Kurt 6" you can squeeze over 8000lbs of pressure onto the work. If you are taking an .025 DOC with a slow feed rate, you might need 1/10 of that.

I had a great import vise that I could use well, but I could not torque the screw over about 40 foot-lbs or my fixed jaw would lift also. It is now owned by a guy with an RF45 mill... I have a Kurt and a K-633 Taiwanese clone for my big mill. both are built far stronger.
