The original Van Norman vice is impossible to get.

They typically bring under $1000, just how much under depends on the condition, seller motivation, and tooling. Arbors and other tooling are really rare and expensive. Tools4cheap.net stocks some tooling, chinese but good quality.

Your boss sounds pretty skilled to work that fast. Any chance he would come here and let us know what he does to get it up to snuff to make chips?

The serial number is located on the side of the column on the plate, on top of the knee ways, on the ram head, on the table- all over.


I would love some photos of that thing in action- it's a nice mill.
